Bicycle coffee cup holder classic available as limited edition

The 2019 Subaru Ascent launched to the American market as the largest car the firm had ever made, but made headlines for another reason. The SUV boasts 19 cup holders.

19 might mark ‘peak cup holder’, but most car firms put a staggering amount of effort into their size and placement.

According to Linda Brainer, senior project engineer and interior human factors specialist at General Motors: “At the same time that we’re trying to figure out where the occupant should be and the fundamentals of the vehicle, we’re already specifying where the cup holders need to be, and how the design teams need to work around that area so that in the end [the cup holders] are in a good location.”

It’s unusual to find a bicycle sold with mudguards – let alone a bottle carrier – so looking to redress the imbalance, Swedish brand Bookman has reissued its simple bicycle coffee cup holder for handlebars.

Win your own bicycle coffee cup holder

If you’re a cyclist who relies on a boost of caffeine to get their legs going before the morning commute, we have a Bookman coffee cup holder in white to give away. Simply let us know your cycling drink of choice in the comments section below and we will pick a name so you can enjoy a coffee on your daily commute.

The bicycle coffee cup holder is easily attached to the bars thanks to a clever spring steel construction. Open the spring by pressing the rings together, place it on the handlebar and let go. The spring clamps down on the handlebars and sits firmly in place even over bumpy city roads.

The holder can be flipped and used with either the smaller ring or the lager ring depending on cup size.

The construction is free from screws and glue, which makes the product easier to recycle should that ever be necessary.

I want to win one but can you confirm it is not a single use card cup in your photo?

Always keen to keep hydrated. Preferably an electrolyte but a coffee would work wonders!

I love a flat white or cappuccino and often pick one up when I cycle in to town. One of these would allow me to pop it on the handlebars while I push my bike from the coffee shop. Excellent idea

Coffee and cycling are my two favourite things. Water is my cycling drink of choice, with a cup of coffee before and during a ride.

My choice for a drink would be hot chocolate. My choice for a cup holder would be Bookman – that’s a really nifty little device! I’ll drink to that!

Because what the world really needs right now is more use-once coffee cups. FFS.

Hi ETA – I enjoy a latte with a little less milk. It’s essentially a flat white but it costs less because it doesn’t have the same cachet. This looks like a fabulous product and would be a darn sight safer than carrying a couple of coffees and cycling no handed down the A308 as I typically attempt…keep up the good work!

Wow, that would be wonderful to have to make the buying of coffees at stations when travelling would make such a difference. Putting them in the bottle holder is always a bit precarious and precious coffee gets lost!
