ETA: 27 years campaigning for planet and people
May 19, 2017
Over our 27 years, we have never been what you might describe as an everyday insurance company. For starters, we are named by The Good Shopping Guide as Britain’s most ethical insurance company – and that’s in part because we are founded on a commitment to safeguard our environment. From day one, our support for the environment has been global, national and local. And every project we support has one thing in common. People.
Every time you buy a policy from us, we support Climate Care carbon reduction projects in the parts of the world that need them most.
For example, efficient burn stoves in Kenya that reduce carbon emissions and improve health. Over the course of the project, 225,000 stoves have generated a saving of more than 1.4 million tons of CO2 emissions.
Here in Britain, we launched Green Transport Week and Car Free Day and even coined the phrase ‘Twenty’s Plenty’ to lobby for lower speed limits. All three campaigns have one thing in common; improving the quality of life for people. Most recently we have been promoting grass roots cycling through our community outreach programme Back on a Bike.
We also work with schools to help them get safer crossings using our imaginative pop-up zebra crossings.
At a local level, our team regularly volunteers to help maintain public spaces.
Finally, we’ve never been of the opinion that preaching is the best way to get a message across. Some of the campaigns we run are about highlighting a serious issue in a lighthearted way. We even managed to pick up two Guinness World Records for our cycling projects along the way.
How can I support this work?
It’s easy. You can simply buy cycle insurance, travel insurance or breakdown cover from us.
If you are with us already, thank you for your support and please spread the word among your friends.
