Cycle insurance if you use a bike hangar
March 7, 2024
Some local authorities provide secure on-street storage areas for cycles - 'bike hangars' that provide secure parking for those without the space to store a bicycle themselves.
However, they're not immune from thieves so many users opt for cycle insurance for added protection.
ETA cycle insurance and bike hangars
We provide full insurance cover for bicycles stored in bike hangars, with just a few stipulations.
If you have been issued with the key or access code to a bike hangar, then you must lock your bike when it's stored inside (remember to use the correctly rated Sold Secure to lock the bike through its frame).
Also, if it's possible to see into the bike hangar, we ask that you cover your bike so it's not visible to passersby. There is no restriction on how long you can leave your bike unattended in a bike hangar when these conditions are met.
Still unsure? Get in touch with us or see the policy wording for full conditions.
