Bicycles that grow with your kids
February 3, 2012
Spanish bicycle makers Orbea have launched a range of bicycles that can be adjusted in size as a child grows.
As you would expect, the handlebar and seat can be raised, but the frame also extends to allow a growing child up to five years of use out of a single bicycle.
The GROW range of bicycles
comprises four models and prices are no higher than for bikes of comparable quality; the 2 1V, which would suit a child aged 4-9, sells for 249 euros.
Cheaper, greener
A spokesperson for the ETA said: “The idea allows a child to get more use out of a bicycle that they will already have become familiar with – it’s a cheaper and more environmentally-friendly alternative to buying an extra bicycle as the child grows.”
Cycle insurance from 33p per week
Every cycle insurance policy from the ETA includes new-for-old replacement if your bike is stolen, cover for accidental damage (race events included), third party insurance (in the case of an accident you may need to seek compensation or even deal with a claim by someone else), personal accident cover and if you breakdown, we will even come out and recover you and your bike. From 33p per week.
