BMW to lease Mini E electric car for £11 a day
April 15, 2010
Twenty British motorists will get to lease the all-electric, two-seater version of the Mini for £330 per month as part of trial subsidised by the government.
The MINI E is already being tested by companies, but this is the first time it has been offered to members of the public.
Drivers interested in leasing one of the MINI E cars must live in the area between Andover, Oxford and west London and must have daily access to a private garage, car port or off-street parking so that a charging point can be installed.
The cars can also be topped up from a conventional household electrical supply.
The installation of the charging point and insurance will be included in the monthly leasing fee.
A spokesperson for the Environmental Transport Association (ETA) said: “This offer is likely to be hugely over-subscribed because it is an opportunity to test and play a part in the development of cutting-edge green car technology.”
