Cars get built-in vacuum cleaners
April 16, 2013
The modern day car has become so homogeneous in terms of appearance and efficiency that they say it’s the small details that sell one model over another; iPod compatibility, coloured mood lighting, additional cup holders and now the in-car vacuum cleaner.
The Honda Odyssey Touring Elite MPV will from next year be equipped with its own built-in vacuum cleaner. The HondaVAC works continuously like any other accessory when the car’s engine is running or for up to 8 minutes from its own rechargeable battery.
Rumour has it that Honda was prompted to build the in-car hoover after one of its executives was asked by his young daughter why cars didn’t have their own vacuum cleaners.
The HondaVAC option will initially be available only in America, coming to Europe if demand is sufficiently high. If you can’t wait until then to clean your car or you’re looking for a cheaper way of keeping it tidy, the Drop Stop is a simple tube of black neoprene rubber that promises to prevent keys, phones and food being lost in the black hole gap between a car’s front seats and front.
