Cycling the gauntlet: How stressed are you by traffic on your commute?

Is there a stretch of your commute that feels so sketchy it leaves you thinking: if only I can survive this section I'll get home ok?

You're lucky if your commute from start to finish feels entirely benign. When we posed the question this week on Twitter the replies were shocking, if not surprising.

Twitter user @eddyrhead spoke for many when he answered: "I have 3 stretches - the beginning stretch, the middle stretch and the end stretch".

When people talk about the roads, it's clear that many mistake equality for equity. For example, the placatory and often heard "we all just need to share the roads" might sound reasonable enough, but it overlooks the fact that on the roads - as in so many other areas of life - equity requires that some people get more.

In the case of road danger reduction, it means identifying and addressing the source of the harm. We've spent the last 70 years making driving convenient and life inconvenient, but our love affair with the car has come at a cruel cost.

Our 40-minute documentary STOP KILLING OUR CHILDREN highlights the institutionalised apathy towards road deaths that overlooks the 24,000 people killed or seriously injured every year on British roads.
