Fiat eco: Drive given award

May 22, 2009

Fiat has been recognised for its in-car eco: Drive system.

The firm has scooped the Fleet Environmental Award at the 2009 Fleet World Honours.

Motorists using the technology can find out how green their driving style is, alerting them to their car’s emissions and fuel consumption.

These factors are measured through the use of a USB stick which is plugged into a special port found in the vehicle’s dashboard.

Ken Rogers, a judge at the competition and editor of Fleet World, commented that the company "can be proud of its achievement".

He added: "The Fiat range is especially attractive to younger drivers and the eco: Drive programme will ensure that they form environmentally sound driving habits from an early age."
