Bicycle handlebar plugs made from beer bottle caps

May 4, 2010

Bicycle handlebar plugs are an essential accessory for your bike because they stop gouging injuries in the event of a crash, but most designs are entirely unremarkable-looking. Enter ‘bar tabs’, a British-designed-and-built system that allows recycled beer bottle caps to serve as a quirky-looking alternative to alloy or black plastic.

Conventional black plastic handlebar plugs are cost from as little as £1.99 a pair on eBay , but the £7 Bar Tabs are a finely-engineered design that allows recycled beer bottle tops to function as bar ends and be interchanged at will.

The bar tabs are available with an expanding rubber bung for £10 or as a conventional push fit design for £7.
