Height of cool: Upcycled Fiat 500 car fridge
November 1, 2013
If our taste for cars continues to favour smaller vehicles, where will it all end? If the trend is spurred by concern for the environment and we all eventually trade in our city cars for bus passes or bicycles, what will we become of our motors?
Fiat thinks it has the answer. The Italian car maker has teamed up with kitchen appliance manufacturer, Smeg, to transform old cars into fridges.
The donor car is the front end a classic Fiat 500 and in the boot space under the bonnet now sits a fridge.
Fiat 500 aficionados will find the modification apt - to prevent some high-performance versions of the 500 from over-heating, they were always driven with the engine cover propped open to keep them cool.
