How did we ever manage without digital luggage tags?
February 19, 2016
Paper luggage tags could soon be a thing of the past; travellers can now use their smartphone and digital luggage tags to check in their smart bag from home.
There’s a poignancy about removing the old dog-eared luggage tags that have accumulated on the handles of suitcases, but according to those in the know, they are an outmoded way of tracking luggage that cost passengers time.
At around £1,000 apiece, RIMOWA suitcases can cost as much as some of us spend on an entire holiday and their latest innovation promises to increase the price further still.
In a bid to consign the paper luggage label to history, a digital screen is integrated into the suitcase. From later this year, in addition to a digital boarding pass, certain airlines, including Lufthansa, will also provide passengers with digital luggage data for their booked flights.
