Pinarello Dogma: Ultimate stunt bike?

October 18, 2012

Mountain bikes have become the default choice for most cyclists, but trials rider Martyn Ashton has once again proved that expensive road bikes can take on the most extreme of off-road conditions and survive unscathed.

Ashton took a Pinarello Dogma 2, the same £10k carbon road bike used by Bradley Wiggins to win this year’s Tour de France, for a ride with a difference.

Cover your bike against accidental damage

Cycle insurance from the ETA protects against accidental damage, theft and vandalism (including at race events) and includes £5m third party insurance, a breakdown recovery service for cyclists and worldwide cover.

It’s not the first time Ashton has thrown abuse at road bike in this way. A promotional film for the Bike Radar Live event showed a Raleigh Avanti Team being used to hop over boulders, perform flips at a skate park and cross Clifton suspension bridge as it has never been ridden before. During the making of the film the bike suffered no serious damage and only one puncture, which happened on a paved road. Watch the action on Youtube
