The bicycle lock worn as a belt

March 22, 2011

The idea of wearing a bicycle lock around the waist or across the shoulder is not new; bike couriers have been doing it with heavyweight chain and cable locks for years, but the Hiplok is the world’s first bicycle lock developed specifically to be worn on the body.

The principle of carrying a lock independently is sound; there is no need to take a bag with you and you transfer the weight of the lock from your back and shoulders to your hips, which makes your riding more stable and comfortable.

Quick release

According to the makers of the Hiplok, the system is safer, too; if a conventional lock is worn on the body it needs to locked in place but the Hiplok remains fully adjustable and quickly removable at all times when being worn.
