Winter is coming: Your bike vs grimy roads
September 26, 2024
This week's wet weather is a sign of things to come. A warning of the grimy road conditions your bike will face as winter approaches. Grit and muck plays havoc with moving parts so they're best washed off as frequently as you can manage. Pressure washers make light work of this chore, but setting them up can be a faff even if you have an outdoor tap.
Both drawbacks are addressed by cordless pressure washer. While it might lack the punch to jet wash a patio, the Titan model we've tested this week is perfect for tackling muddy bicycles.
Best of all, you can draw water from a bucket, watering can, water butt - anything you have handy. The 6-metre hose supplied with the pressure washer includes a filter to protect the pump from particles.

We unleashed the cordless pressure washer on a bike covered in dry, caked-on mud. It made quick work of what can be a fiddly task - even hard-to-reach areas took no time. Putting two buckets of water through the washer had no discernible effect on the battery level - the instructions claim a run time of 45 minutes.
