Cycle locks for e-bikes and cargo bikes

E-Bikes and cargo bikes are expensive enough to attract to thieves. However, their size means they can be tricky to lock.
Hiplok have designed the E-DX chain and D-Lock combination with these larger-framed cycles in mind.
The E-DX isn't to be confused with the D-lock and flimsy cable combinations sold by many lock companies. Both the hardened steel chain and accompanying D-lock are rated Gold by Sold Secure.
The loop-end design offers a 1m locking length. And while it weighs in at a hefty 3.5kg, this isn't as much of a factor for cargo and power-assisted bikes.

Insurance for e-bikes and cargo bikes
It's little wonder so e-bike insurance cover is so popular - a single battery can cost £500 to replace if it's pinched.
However, while most cycle insurance providers now cover e-bikes as standard, their policies all differ - not least in how they calculate your settlement in the event of a claim.
For example, some insurance providers boast about replacing stolen bicycles on a new-for-old basis. However, read the small print and all is not as it seems. In some cases, once your bike is 3 years old it no longer qualifies for new-for-old replacement, while other providers exclude second-hand bikes.
