Floating BBQ hub is the ultimate in al fresco dining luxury
June 26, 2013
How can a decent sort of person have self-respect when their barbecue set-up doesn't include at least sixteen different grill attachments, a roster of specialised implements and wireless technology? The answer is, of course, a resounding- ‘they simply can’t’.
Thankfully, a Stateside retailer have taken the al fresco charring of flesh to its natural conclusion - the BarbecueDining Boat.
When you're relaxing on the water in your boat surrounded by family and friends, bathing in sunshine, its a tragedy to be restricted to a picnic if you get peckish. Never fear again! For just $50,000, NYC-based Hammacher Schlemmr afford you and up to 9 guests the opportunity barbecue and bob along to your heart's content.
Guests are seated around a table top with 24" grill within arms reach, granting autonomy over how well done one's sirloin should be. Thermos cabinets beneath the seats allow one to stockpile beers, wine and burgers to last the whole day.
There's little chance of being rained off as you're protected by a nylon canopy which can easily be retracted when the sun decides to show its face again.
Its a pretty good thing too, as the whole thing is powered on electricity, with the manufacturers claiming the 30-watt motor can withstand 8 hours of continuous use (both cooking and trolling along the river) from a 10-hour charge.
And if the motor does fail, at least you'll be able to send smoke signals.
We don't cover electric BBQ dining boats against breakdown (yet), but we can protect you and your car, van or motorbike with our ethical breakdown cover, no matter how it's powered.
