Merino wool for autumn rides
October 12, 2022
We always cherish sunny autumn rides, but conditions can change quickly once clouds reappear. After all, if the British weather can be relied on for anything it's a changeable outlook - so it pays to be well prepared. It's the reason we're fans of merino wool, a material that's perfectly suited to autumn, spring and winter riding.
Merino wool is breathable, naturally anti-bacterial, lightweight and soft - qualities that make it ideally suited to cycling wear. In the old days, cyclists used newspaper as a cheap and effective way to keep warm. Placing the paper under their tops proved a surprisingly effective way to reduce wind chill. These days, cycle clothing is a little more technical. This particular jersey from dhb uses a blended polyamide fabric for a snug fit and a polypropylene layer to help moisture evaporate quicker.
