Pimp One's Ride - the mobility scooter mobile throne fit for a queen
June 1, 2022
There are 300,000 mobility scooters on UK streets, but only one equipped with a mobile throne.
Unveiled today to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the blinged-out buggy was created by mobility scooter insurance provider, the ETA, as the perfect way to make a grand entrance.
The magnificent mobility scooter boasts a number of regal specifications:
• A sumptuous gold throne suitable for all official engagements
• Ornate candle-powered carriage lanterns
• Crystal decanter and glasses
• A range of 30 miles - enough to get from Buckingham Palace to Windsor castle before it needs to be recharged
• Spectacular crest-adorned dog basket
Chief Exec at the ETA, Becky Gibbins, said: “The mobile throne is our way of marking the jubilee and celebrating the independence and freedom that mobility scooters bring to so many.”
Mobility scooters will soon celebrate their own 70th anniversary. The Queen acceded to the throne in 1952 and the first mobility scooter was introduced two years later. Sears launched a three-wheel model in 1954 that featured a comfortable seat and large battery, but it was not a commercial success.
ETA offers fully-comprehensive mobility scooter insurance for only £65 per year.
